LEARNING TO PLAY THE CELLO

The cello has become a widely popular instrument in recent years. It has successfully expanded into folk and modern music similar to the way the guitar did long ago. Cello lessons at Dungeness Music Academy explore classical, folk, and popular approaches to cello playing. In our cello lessons we pay special attention to establishing good habits early on so that technique can develop naturally and with ease. At our music academy we utilize fun exercises and assignments that develop our student’s sense of pitch. This makes playing in-tune develop into something natural and makes playing the cello much more enjoyable.

Playing the cello is just plain fun! It’s fun to move your body around a giant instrument and the acrobatic motions remind me of dancing. But then consider that with that one instrument you can easily go from playing Brahms in the day to distortion and heavy rock at night.
